Metric Conversions:

Before you start solving problems you will need to print the following conversion table. (You will need to have installed on your computer Acrobat Reader in order to print this file. See Net Tools for details about Acrobat Reader.)

Metric Ratio Conversion Table

Important features of the Metric Conversion Table.

  • There are three tables one for mass, length, and volume (in liters).
  • There is a fourth table that relates volume in liters to volume in dm3.
  • Each column in any single table is actually a ratio of one metric unit to the other.
  • Each of the ratios can be flipped over so that the numerator becomes the denominator and vice versa. Do not reduce the ratios to decimals (dividing out the fraction). All calculations are down after the method of dimensional analysis is performed.

You will find Examples of how the conversion table is used to solve metric conversion problems in the Example Problems Page of this Web Site.
You may use the side bar link, as well:    Go to the Example Page. All Links to Metric Conversion Examples
are listed in a Table.
